Team Davis (Stockton)

Team Davis brought awareness of both gender and LGBTQ+ issues of young people to their city’s leaders. Team Davis met with Trustees of SUSD and Mayor Kevin Lincoln’s Chief Aide with the support of Tony McNeil coordinating the meeting with the Mayor’s office and Austin Steinhart coordinating the meeting with SUSD’s Trustee Vargas and Trustee Flores. The team built off of previous learning from site partners such as Planned Parenthood, SJDC Pride Center, UOP’s Title IX Coordinator, and Faith in the Valley. Mayor Lincoln’s Chief Aide Steager expressed interest in further working with Team Davis and promised to relay information to the rest of the Mayor’s office. Trustees of SUSD asked Team Davis to assist with creating new legislation for the Board, and would like to meet more with the team to strengthen their efforts to make SUSD feel safe for girls and LGBTQ+ students.

Team Ruth Bader Ginsburg (LA)

Team Ruth Bader Ginsburg focused on gender justice issues specifically by providing resources to marginalized LGBTQ+ folx. Changeists built tote bags filled with essential items to give away to folx from the LGBTQ+ community who are in need. These tote bags also included a resource guide with meditation/healing practices, a map with resources, and a mini history lesson on LGTBQ+ history.

Our Changeist youth moderated the event and wrote the questions that would be addressed by the speakers. The webinar was extremely interactive and enlightening.
